Label: Dilusions Of Grandeur

Time to introduce Manolo, alter ego of a certain Roberto Rodriguez when choosing to venture into more mid-tempo discoid territories.  The Helsinki based producer has been ruling things nicely the last few years with big releases and remixes on Freerange, Compost, 2020Vision and Raw Fusion to name a few.  Not one to get caught treading water, Roberto has made sure to keep things fresh as a daisy by creating his new Manolo alias for cheeky edits and left of centre productions falling outside the house music bracket.  So who better to present you these tracks than Delusions Of Grandeur, a label not afraid to keep the tempos down and the ethos underground and eclectic (for want of a much better term!)

Things kick off with Lose Myself, a rock solid chugger that bumps n grinds perfectly while pianos build and the vocal rides the looped up slo-mo house groove.

Flip over for Commando which takes things in an altogether more epic, Italo-inspired direction with a sixteenth note bassline snaking around while the layers of synths slowly build into lush harmonies.  A really lovely, dreamy vibe emanates from this track whilst driving beats make sure the groove stays fat and rolling.

Finally we have the ever so slightly madcap Berliner’s Wareika on board to spin Commando out into the stratosphere and back. Their totally analogue reworking takes a live dub approach with spinning delays and classic plate reverbs, resulting in a beautifully murky, swampy, lo-slung version loaded with atmosphere. For those unfamiliar with Wareika, be sure to check out their stuff on Connaisseur, Eskimo and Liebe*Detail.
